Craniosacral Therapy

A gentle path to nervous system balance, deep healing, and inner calm.

Craniosacral Therapy in Portland, Maine

Some healing doesn't announce itself. It arrives quietly — as warmth moving through the body, as a breath you didn't know you were holding finally releasing, as a stillness that feels more alive than any movement.

That's the nature of Visionary Craniosacral Work® (VCSW) at K'intu Healing Arts.

This is work for people who feel chronically overwhelmed, stuck in cycles of pain, anxiety, or tension that nothing else has quite reached. For those navigating trauma, hormonal imbalance, or the kind of exhaustion that lives in the nervous system rather than just the muscles. For anyone who senses that what they're carrying isn't only physical — and needs a space that can hold all of it.

Using a subtle, light touch, VCSW works with the craniosacral system — the fluid and membranes surrounding the brain and spinal cord — to release deeply held tension and restore harmony throughout the body. Sessions are fully clothed, deeply restful, and guided entirely by your body's own intelligence.

What Makes Visionary Craniosacral Work® Different?

Rooted in cranial osteopathy and developed by Hugh Milne, VCSW goes beyond structural technique. It integrates intuition, energetic perception, and what Milne calls "the heart of listening" — an orientation toward the whole person, not just the presenting symptom.

I trained in this lineage because it reflects how I understand healing: as something that happens in relationship, not just in tissue. Each session is attuned to your anatomy, yes — but also to your energy, your emotional landscape, and your felt sense of being in your body right now. Nothing is forced. Everything is followed.

This Work May Be Right for You If:

  • You're living with chronic headaches, migraines, or TMJ pain

  • Stress, anxiety, or trauma symptoms feel wired into your system

  • Sleep, digestion, or hormonal regulation feel consistently off

  • You're in a season of transition — physical, emotional, or spiritual

  • You've tried other approaches and something still feels unresolved

  • You're drawn to work that honors the connection between body, mind, and spirit

What to Expect During a Session

Sessions are 60–90 minutes and done fully clothed. You'll lie on the table while I make gentle contact — often at the head, sacrum, or along the spine — inviting your nervous system to unwind at its own pace.

Many clients describe a profound quality of stillness, subtle warmth or movement through the body, or an emotional release that feels organic rather than effortful. Some fall into a deeply restful state. Some see images or feel shifts they can't quite name but know are real.

Each session is led by your body's wisdom. I follow where it guides.

To help create an open heart, a clear head and a free body.

CRANIOSACRAL FAQs

    • Visionary Craniosacral Work® (VCSW) combines traditional cranial osteopathy with intuitive, trauma-informed, and soul-aware practices, drawing on shamanic and holistic healing lineages. Sessions are spacious, gentle, and attuned to both the physical and energetic body.

Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy emphasizes the body's natural rhythms and forces, often focusing on subtle energy and internal flows, with a slower, deeply listening approach.

Upledger Craniosacral Therapy is more structurally-oriented, with hands-on techniques to gently release tension in the craniosacral system, cerebrospinal fluid, and connective tissues.

All three approaches work to balance the nervous system and support the body's innate healing, but the style, pace, and focus differ. VCSW integrates body, mind, and spirit in a way that is uniquely intuitive and personalized.

  • Somato-emotional release (SER) is a technique that intentionally works to release deeply held trauma or emotional memories stored in the body. While I do not offer SER as a specific protocol, all of my work — Structural Integration, VCSW, and abdominal therapy — is trauma-informed.

This means sessions are safe, client-led, and paced according to your comfort. Your autonomy and consent are central throughout. You may experience emotional release during sessions, but it happens organically rather than being the primary goal. The work is designed to help you feel grounded, supported, and resilient.

  • The typical recommendation is 3–6 weekly sessions before determining whether VCSW will be beneficial for your healing journey. If you feel positively about the experience, you may consider moving to monthly or bi-monthly sessions for maintenance.

Response to treatment varies by individual and intention — healing occurs in layers. Many physical issues develop over time, so the process of unfolding requires the right approach, at the right time, with the right practitioner. If I am unable to support you in your healing, I will do my best to refer you to someone who can.
