General FAQs

  • Manual therapies like Structural Integration, Visionary Craniosacral Work, abdominal therapy, and other bodywork are not quick “fixes” for specific symptoms. Instead, they help your body become more balanced, adaptable, and supported.

When your system is less restricted and better organized, symptoms—like migraines, back pain, digestive discomfort, or jaw tension—often improve, but everyone’s experience is unique. Healing is most effective when the work you receive in the session is reinforced by supportive changes in your daily life, such as movement, posture awareness, rest, or stress management.

In other words, this work gives your body more freedom, resilience, and capacity, creating the conditions for lasting change. So a more accurate question might be:

“Can this help my body find a better way to function?”

    The answer is usually yes.

  • I can accept HSA/FSA cards. I provide email receipts after each session, however I do not accept insurance nor can I bill insurance directly on your behalf.

  • New clients are encouraged to book at least a 75-minute session. This allows time for questions, a thorough Body Reading, and the creation of a personalized treatment plan.

In most cases, your first session will be a Structural Integration-informed approach—combining gentle myofascial release and active participation on your part—with calming integration work at the end to help your body absorb and stabilize the changes. This gives you the best foundation for lasting results.

  • Yes! Massage is available for calming, restorative support when your energy is low and can be booked for any session length under the Session booking option. Many clients come seeking help for chronic pain, complex symptoms, or long-standing tension. If you’re ready to dive deeper into lasting structural and functional changes, I typically recommend starting with Structural Integration to help you feel grounded and supported from the inside out.

  • Yes! Techniques like ScarWork® and Bonework® can help release tension, improve mobility, and support structural alignment. They can be stand-alone sessions or incorporated into your Structural Integration series, depending on your needs.

ATSI/12 SERIES FAQs

  • During the series, we explore whether your body can learn new patterns, freeing stuck areas so your system has more options and flexibility. Once your body is more adaptable, we focus on building stability and safety in these changes. From this stable foundation, your body can release deeper, long-held patterns and habits. Finally, we work on integrating these changes into your daily life, helping you make them your new normal.

Active engagement of the client, both in and outside of sessions, is essential for ensuring that these improvements are lasting.

  • Sessions are usually scheduled every 1–3 weeks to keep the momentum going. Many people find the best results when we meet every 1–2 weeks. If travel or illness interrupts your series, we can add a “stitch session” to get you back on track.

  • If you’re curious about the 12-series, start with the first 3 sessions. If you’re only able to commit to 3, there’s a specific 3-series we can do. Just note: if you later choose to continue into the full 12-series, we’ll begin again with session 1.

  • ATSI (Anatomy Trains Structural Integration) is based on the same foundational principles as Rolfing, developed by Dr. Ida Rolf, but it incorporates Tom Myers’ Anatomy Trains myofascial lines to guide the work.

While Rolfing focuses on overall body alignment and fascial release in a structured 10-session series, ATSI uses myofascial meridians to understand how tension and movement patterns travel through the body. This allows sessions to target specific patterns of restriction, improve movement efficiency, and enhance structural integration.

In short: Rolfing is the original method; ATSI is an evolution of Rolfing with a focus on myofascial anatomy and whole-body movement patterns.

  • It’s fine to receive sessions while on your cycle—just let Kat know if you’re experiencing pain or discomfort. A full series is not recommended during pregnancy, since your body is already focused on a very special project.

  • While massage often focuses on relaxing muscles and easing tension in a localized area, Structural Integration (SI) looks at the whole body and how it moves and functions as a system. SI works to reorganize posture, improve alignment, and restore balance, helping the body find more freedom, stability, and efficiency—not just temporary relief.

  • Myofascial release focuses specifically on loosening tight fascia—the connective tissue surrounding muscles and organs. Structural Integration may use myofascial release techniques, but it goes beyond just releasing tissue. SI is a systematic, full-body approach that includes movement, sensory awareness, and integration, helping your body learn new patterns of support and alignment so changes last.

CRANIOSACRAL FAQs

    • Visionary Craniosacral Work® (VCSW) combines traditional cranial osteopathy with intuitive, trauma-informed, and soul-aware practices, drawing on shamanic and holistic healing lineages. Sessions are spacious, gentle, and attuned to both the physical and energetic body.

    • Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy emphasizes the body’s natural rhythms and forces, often focusing on subtle energy and internal flows, with a slower, deeply listening approach.

    • Upledger Craniosacral Therapy is more structurally-oriented, with hands-on techniques to gently release tension in the craniosacral system, cerebrospinal fluid, and connective tissues.

All three approaches work to balance the nervous system and support the body’s innate healing, but the style, pace, and focus differ slightly. VCSW integrates body, mind, and spirit in a way that is uniquely intuitive and personalized.

  • Somato-emotional release (SER) is a technique that intentionally works to release deeply held trauma or emotional memories stored in the body. While I do not offer SER as a specific protocol, all of my work—Structural Integration, VCSW, and abdominal therapy—is trauma-informed.

    This means:

    • Sessions are safe, client-led, and paced according to your comfort.

    • Your autonomy and consent are central throughout the process.

    • Techniques focus on supporting your nervous system, releasing tension, and improving function, while respecting the emotions and sensations that arise naturally.

In other words, you may experience emotional release during sessions, but it happens organically rather than being the primary goal. The work is designed to help you feel grounded, supported, and resilient.

  • The typical recommendation is to have 3-6 weekly sessions before determining if VCSW will be beneficial for your healing journey. If you feel positively about the experience, you may consider moving to monthly or bi-monthly sessions for maintenance.

Response to treatment varies by individual and intention, as healing occurs in layers. Many physical issues develop over time, so the process of unfolding requires the right approach at the right time, with the right practitioner, for the appropriate duration. If I am unable to support you in your healing, I will do my best to refer you to another practitioner.
