Terms & Policies

  • My relationship with my clients is built on a foundation of mutual trust and respect. As a condition of working with me, all clients agree to the policies below. They're non-negotiable.

Should you need to cancel or reschedule, please notify me at least 48 hours in advance. Clients can cancel or reschedule up to 48 hours prior on the booking website. If you’re unable to do so on the booking website, please email kat@kintuhealingarts.com and text 207-693-5181 to confirm cancel prior to the 48 hour window.

If you cancel, reschedule, or shorten your appointment with less than 48 hours' notice, for any reason, the card on file will be charged for the full treatment cost. If you’re 30 minutes late, your appointment will be cancelled.

If you cancel an appointment under 48 hours, our booking contract is canceled and your card will be charged.

All services require a credit card to be placed on file in order to finalize your appointment. You will not be billed unless there is a late cancellation or no show. After your session you may choose your method of payment. You are not obligated to use the credit card used to make the reservation.

Winter Weather. Your safety is my priority. It is a client’s responsibility to keep an eye on any factor (weather, logistical, traffic, etc) that may affect how they are able to show up for a session. Please consider how an impending storm may affect your ability to arrive on time. Day of cancellations due to unforeseen weather will be handled on a case by case basis. If you’re unsure if you’ll be able to make it, I recommend canceling prior to the 48 hour window to avoid full session fee.

Illness: If you are sick a few days prior to your appointment, please notify me via email. If you are sick less than 48 hours prior, there is the option to send someone in your place.

Think of your session like a concert ticket. If you can’t make it for any reason, you can send a friend in your place or absorb the cost.

Please know that consecutive occurrences of booking and canceling or rescheduling may result in termination of the therapeutic relationship.

  • I understand that unanticipated events occur in everyone’s life. Unforeseen events such as car problems, business meetings and children’s illnesses, are just a few reasons why one might consider canceling a massage appointment. However, I ask that you call if you cannot keep your appointment. Clients who miss their appointments without giving any prior notification will be charged in full for the scheduled service. When you miss an appointment, I not only lose your business, but also the potential business of other clients who could have scheduled an appointment for the same time.

  • Rates are all inclusive and include herbal balms, cupping and heat at no additional charge.

  • Massage Therapy is a profession in which the practitioner applies manual techniques, and may apply adjunctive therapies, with the intention of positively affecting the health and well-being of the client. Licensed Massage Therapists neither diagnose nor prescribe for medical or mental health conditions. I may recommend that you see a medical doctor or mental health practitioner for diagnosis or treatment. Massage therapy is not intended as an alternative for proper medical attention for specific conditions. Please refer to a medical doctor for any specific condition which requires medical treatment.

  • If you choose to disrobe, intimate areas will always be securely draped. Only the area being massaged will be uncovered. You will be kept informed of the area to be massaged.

If receiving abdominal massage, the chests of all clients will be draped regardless of gender or physical presentation.

  • As the massage therapist, I reserve the right to end a massage session if I feel uncomfortable as a result of the actions or words of the client. I reserve the right to refuse service to anyone who will not abide by each and every one of the above listed policies. Examples of behaviors that will cause me to terminate or refuse service include but are not limited to: violence, or threat of violence toward myself or someone else; commentary of a sexual nature; sexual advances of any kind; hate speech of any variety. Actions such as these will result in the termination of your session, and you will be charged full price.

  • I am more than happy to adjust the pressure, temperature, or music volume; as well as work longer on a specific area or move on if you request it. I always want your honest feedback, positive or negative. With open communication, I can create the BEST experience for you! As the client, you may choose to: leave on as much clothing as needed for your comfort, refuse any massage methods, pause or stop massage at any time. If you choose to disrobe, you will always be draped*. Only the area being massaged will be uncovered. You will be kept informed of the area to be massaged. If receiving abdominal massage, the chests of all clients will be draped regardless of gender or physical presentation.

  • It is the responsibility of the client to keep the massage therapist informed of any medical treatment currently being taken, and to provide written permission from the physician, chiropractor, physical therapist, etc. for the massage if required. The client must also keep the massage therapist informed of any changes in health conditions. There are many medical conditions for which massage is contraindicated, so it is crucial that I am informed.

For clients undergoing chemo and radiation therapies – Please note that I require a doctor’s note stating that your doctor is aware of and agrees to your participation in massage therapy.

  • I treat all client visits and conditions as confidential. As such, I will not discuss your visit with anybody else without your express permission. You may choose to talk or remain silent during the massage. Conversation will be guided by the client. I will periodically check in with you to see how you’re doing.

  • When possible, I ask that you please make an effort to wash up before your session. A hot shower would also serve the purpose of helping you to relax and warm up your muscles, allowing my work to sink deeper. This maximizes the therapeutic effect of your time on my table.
