There’s a palpable feeling within each of us, so clearly reflected in our society and our world.
In some way or another, we’ve lost touch with our center.
The core inside of us that just knows.
It knows what’s right, what’s wrong, it knows who we are even when our head is lost in the clouds.
There used to be a cord from this center, tied to our mothers, filled with endless nourishment, supportive release and the fruits of our lineage.
For many of us, it was cut quickly.
Too quickly.
Symptoms are arising rapidly but in our attempts to heal, our hands are often left out of the equation.
The ritual of Abdominal Massage is an opportunity to bring movement, sensation, energy back to one’s belly.
It’s an experience to recover, reconnect, return.
As I like to say, to finally land home in your boots, deeply & full of life.
Your session will be a personalized offering, bred from the wisdom of:

The Arvigo Technique of Maya Abdominal Therapy® is founded on the ancient healing systems of the Mayan culture. This tradition holds true that the womb / uterus is the center of a woman’s well-being. The technique is an external, non-invasive manipulation that supports the internal organs that have may have shifted, thereby restricting blood, lymph, nerve and prana and re-establishing balance through homeostasis and hemodynamics. This is a holistic approach to health care incorporating massage, anatomy and physiology, herbology, nutrition, and emotional & spiritual healing.
This work was developed by Dr. Rosita Arvigo as a result of her long term apprenticeship with the late Maya H’Men (Doctor-Priest), Don Elijio Panti of Belize. Rosita also received much wisdom from the late Ms. Hortense Robinson. Hortense’s expertise in tending the womb and supporting birth, as well as her deep love for children, plants and animals live on as forces that inform and illumine the Arvigo Techniques® as we know them today. Other important souls to be honored include Don Jeronimo Requina, Don Elijio's mentor in healing, Ms. Beatrice Waight and Ms. Juana Shish. It is important to understand that we live in a time after these relationships, where healing and restoration for the harms inflicted on indigenous peoples the world over are rightfully being centered.

Barral Institute was founded by Jean-Pierre Barral is a Diplomate of Osteopathy, a Member of the Registre des Ostéopathes de France, and a Physical Therapist. He is the Developer of the manual therapy he calls Visceral Manipulation (VM).
Barral's famous dictum, “Only the tissues know,” expresses that the tissues in the body have a deep and innate intelligence. Everything that has happened in our lives—injuries, diseases, stressors, etc.—is recorded in our tissues. At the core of Visceral Manipulation (VM) is 'listening' to the tissues with our hands. Through manual listening techniques, trained hands of a skilled practitioner feel where the tissues are pulling toward the areas of restriction, the areas where the body is not moving, and the areas of the greatest impact on the person's wellbeing from the manual therapy perspective.
The purpose of Visceral Manipulation is to re-create, harmonize, and increase proprioceptive communication in the body to enhance its internal mechanism for better health, thereby revitalizing a person, and relieving symptoms of pain, dysfunction, and poor posture. Visceral Manipulation treats a person's functional and structural imbalances with an aim to affect their musculoskeletal, vascular, nervous, urogenital, respiratory, digestive, and lymphatic dysfunction.
Visceral Manipulation is organ-specific fascial mobilization and is based on the premise that free movement within the body is vital, and thus any restriction will adversely affect health. The goal of Visceral Manipulation is to help the person's body return to normal function and thereby remove compensatory symptoms, whatever their source, leading to improved health and optimal body functioning.
