Unlocking Deeper Body Freedom with Sharon Wheeler’s Techniques
Sharon Wheeler’s bodywork approaches offer a unique, highly integrative way to work with the body’s structure, tissues, and movement patterns. Her techniques, including ScarWork®, Bonework®, Tail End, and Integrating the Cranium, are designed to complement a Structural Integration (SI) series or to stand alone, supporting deeper healing and alignment.
ScarWork®: Healing the Stories in Tissue
ScarWork® focuses on the fascial and connective tissue around scars or areas of adhesions. Old injuries, surgeries, or emotional trauma can create restrictions in the fascia, affecting posture, movement, and comfort. ScarWork gently releases tension and improves mobility, helping the body reconnect to its natural rhythm.
ScarWork®can be incorporated into individual sessions or included as part of your Structural Integration sessions. Depending on your goals, it can also be done as stand-alone sessions to address specific areas of restriction.
Bonework®: Mobilizing the Skeletal System
Bonework® is a method of working directly with the bones and their connections, helping to restore proper alignment and freedom of movement. By addressing restrictions in the skeletal system, Bonework can improve posture, reduce strain, and support structural integrity throughout the body.
Like ScarWork, Bonework can either be integrated into your SI sessions or booked separately as a focused treatment for specific structural concerns.
Tail End: Get the Sacrum Right
Tail End is a specialized approach that works with the lower body, hips, sacrum, and pelvic floor, supporting alignment, balance, and stability. When included in the 12-session Structural Integration series, Tail End is ideally introduced before session 8 on the Head, Neck & Jaw, creating a solid foundation for deeper integration of the body’s patterns.
By working with the “tail end” of the body, this approach helps clients release tension, restore mobility, and integrate lower-body support into their overall structural balance.
Integrating the Cranium: Session 13
Many Structural Integration practitioners follow a 12-session series, but Sharon Wheeler’s work includes a 13th session dedicated to integrating the cranium.
This session focuses on subtle adjustments and connections within the skull, cranial fascia, and nervous system, helping the body absorb and consolidate the changes from the full series. Integrating the cranium is considered a finishing step that promotes deep systemic alignment, clarity of movement, and overall ease.
How These Techniques Fit Together
ScarWork® and Bonework® can be stand-alone sessions or incorporated into your SI sessions for targeted results.
Tail End is typically included within the 12-series, ideally before session 8, to prepare the lower body for deeper integration.
Integrating the Cranium acts as a session 13, bringing closure and systemic integration after the main series.
By combining these approaches, clients can experience a holistic, highly personalized path to balance, freedom, and long-term structural health.
